Like men's best friend in the picture,  reading good books makes the reader smatter, reduces stress, increases vocabulary, writing, and speaking abilities, and improves concentration. It also promotes workplace camaraderie and job and school performance. These positive results multiply when readers share points of view and different perspectives about what they have read.

"Reading books boosts our imagination and guides us to discover and achieve more incredible things than we ever dreamed."-Dr. Abu Fofana

At The Modern Book Club

We read and discuss books and create a technological workspace that makes communicating more accessible and convenient.

We use personal computers, laptops, iPods, Kindles, and mobile devices to communicate. We also use Google meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom to facilitate our online meetings and discussions.

We also meet when needed, at a library, a break room (at work), a public park, and any physical location where members can discuss, share views and opinions, and have fun.

We Do Great  Things

We advocate for book access and reading equality across the globe.

We collaborate with libraries, bookstores, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations, individual book owners, business organizations, and state and federal agencies. We launch book drives and collect, donate, and distribute books to communities and individuals with little or no access to books and libraries worldwide.

"Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give"-Ben Carson.

16 million adults in South Africa live in houses with no books

We support the literary industry. We nominate authors for an award, send them an encouraging message, hit the like button on 5-star Amazon reviews, and patronize and attend an author's book signing or event when we can.

"Reading is the gateway skill that makes all other learning possible, from complex word problems and the meaning of our history to scientific discovery and technological proficiency."-Obama

Bill Gates reads 50 books a year.

“Reading is still the main way that I learn new things and test my understanding”-Bill Gates.

“Power comes not from knowledge kept but from the knowledge shared”-Bill Gates.

“I read books and talked to people. I mean, that’s kind of how one learns anything. There are lots of great books out there and lots of smart people.”-said Elon Musk.

"My family inspired me to read and learn at an early age. The timeout or punishment my dad would frequently mete out on me was to order me to sit closer to him and read. My recent book, Project Management Theory 2.0, published on October 22 last year and sold on Amazon.com, resulted from the discipline of reading and learning."-Dr. Abu Fofana
